In July 2008, a persistent effort by LNA volunteers working with City and County officials resulted in the money needed to upgrade our park playground equipment. Land Use and Park Committee members worked with City Parks and Recreation Landscape Architect Kevin McElheny to design and build a new play structure. This replaced a forelorn structure lacking a platform that represented a mournful state of neglect of the Park and the children it hosts. We celebrated the completion of the playground with a party February 21st, 2009. The new structure immediately became a magnet for parents and children who previously had to travel several miles to Jacob's Park. Soon after we worked to change the name of the Park from Don Hummel Park to Limberlost Family Park. Expect to see a new sign in the future.
